Please support the Daoist Foundation by making donations to the following projects.

 

Community Gathering Place and Altar Project

We are in the process of creating a practice space for the Green Cove Daoist Association.  This includes a formal Daoist altar, which will be dedicated to the Three Purities and consist of reproductions of Qing-dynasty paintings. Current needs in this area include the following:

 

• Meditation mats and cushions (6 sets): $70/set: $420 total

• Three Purities Paintings: TBD

 

Daoist Studies Archive

Throughout Daoist history, one of the primary functions of Daoist sacred sites has been to preserve Daoist textual collections, most often known as the Daoist Canon. The Daoist Foundation continues to build and maintain such an archive.  Current needs in this area include the following:

Daozang jinghua 道藏精華 (Essential Blossoms of the Daoist Canon): $1,000/102 vols.

Daoshu jicheng 道書集成 (Collection of Daoist Texts): $2,000/60 vols.

Sandong shiyi 三洞拾遺 (Lost Works of the Three Caverns): $1,500/2o vols.

Zhengtong daozang 正統道藏 (Daoist Canon of the Zhengtong Reign Period) (print format): $1,000/36 vols.

Daozang xubian 道藏續編 (Supplementary Collection of the Daoist Canon). Source needed.

Zhuang-Lin xu daozang 莊林續道藏 (Supplemental Daoist Canon of the Zhuang and Lin Families ). Source needed.

 

We also welcome the donation of Daoist materials in any language.

 

Educational Materials

We are in the process of compiling and printing free educational literature for those in situations of need. Current needs in this area include the following:

 

• Pamphlets on Daoism: $250 for printing

 

Legacy Collections

This project aims to gather materials of significant cultural and religious value that will form the core of the Daoist Foundation's cultural legacy. These materials are collected for the benefit of present and future community members as well as for the Daoist community as a whole. Planned acquisitions in this area include the following:

 

• Huashan 華山 (Mount Hua) Scholar's Stone. We have located a rare stone in the marketplace of Jinan, Shandong which resembles the sacred mountain of Huashan. $1,200.

• Daode jing 道德經 (Tao-te-ching) 8-volume Calligraphy. Cao Zhihong 曹志洪, an accomplished calligrapher in Shandong, has written a calligraphic rendering of the Daode jing in an 8- volume edition. This was acquired by the Daoist Foundation on June 18, 2008. $400 collected; $400 outstanding.

• Daode jing 道德經 (Tao-te-ching) Scroll Calligraphy. Cao Zhihong 曹志洪 is prepared to write a single-scroll calligraphic rendering of the Daode jing. $1,600.

 

The Daoist Foundation is recognized as a federal non-profit organization (501[c][3]) and public charity (170[b][1][A][vi]). Donations are tax deductible.  All donors and benefactors receive a formal letter of gratitude and a report on the execution of the related donation. Donations are recorded as part of the Daoist Foundation's history.  Thank you for your support.
