• January 26, 2009: The Green Cove Daoist Association (Olympia, Wash.) is absorbed into the Gallagher Cove Daoist Association (Olympia, Wash.).
• February 8, 2009: The Daoist Foundation offers its first monthly retreat at the newly formed Gallagher Cove Daoist Association.
• July 16 and July 17, 2009: Kate Townsend receives ordination into the Huashan (Mount Hua) lineage of Quanzhen Daoism as Wanqing 萬清 (Myriad Clarities) and ordination into the Clarity and Stillness Order as Baojing 抱靜 (Embracing Stillness).
• July 24, 2009: With the help of Wang Bing 王兵 of Qingyang gong, the Daoist Foundation acquires a stele rubbing depicting Laozi.
• September 1, 2009: Louis Komjathy begins a new academic position at the University of San Diego, and the headquarters of the Daoist Foundation moves to San Diego, California.
• December 2, 2009: Under the direction of Louis Komjathy, the Daoist Foundation prepares and publishes a series of liturical scriptures (Wandering Cloud Press, 2009) for use as recitiation texts in American Daoist ritual. This includes a recitation edition of the Daode jing with the same format as the Daoist Foundation edition of the Quanzhen liturgy. View liturgy.
